Royal Wedding...

No. Not that one. This one.  And I was there in a professional capacity.  Hence the fishnet bodysuit... what else do you wear to a place that supplies "an antidote to the mundane"?

As I mentioned in the previous post, I'm Camninja Wingman (my official title. You may call me Ninja.) to my most fantastic friend Meagan Fitton and we were invited to attend Gallery Serpentine's version of the royal wedding.
Meagan will be featuring the event and interviews and her take on it all on her radio show and my images will feature on the show's blog.
...it wasn't all work... we had time to play... Meagan took this shot of me being all regal-like.

I suppose you would like to know what I'm wearing?
* retro 90s ballgown skirt, encrusted at waistband with diamantes and pearls, by an Australian designer and I have had this for  aloooong time * fishnet bodysuit * cropped tuxedo jacket * 'Shakti' * tiara, which is actually a bejewelled hair clip worn the wrong way!

A most splendid evening!
And there were scones and petit-fours and champagne. And divine wedding dresses. Sartorial splendours. Witty banter.  English accents and Queens English and lost of elegant swearing.  An opera singer. A burlesque dancer. Rain oh there was plenty of rain. A alternative celebrant too and yes a wedding.

Parisian Nights

I have never had any yearning to go to Gay Paree* and frankly, am not a Francophile (although i do speak the language, albeit rusty now and have many close French friends so it's not like I'm antiFranco...)... but... I don't understand the fascination with Paris.**  Seville thrills me, Milan, Brussells, Istanbul, Athens!!!  Ohhhh my.  But... Paris. Nothing. Blase. Passe. Sashay?

However I do understand the idea of Parisian Nights...opulent, decadent, bohemian, creative, sensual, luscious, beautiful... images of a Belle Epoque... artistic license to thrill... which is what I experienced tonight at The Art Lounge

I've teamed up with a most fantastic friend to photograph interesting events and places to see and go and experience.
Meagan has a radio program called Armchair Traveller.  I'm her camninja wingman!  She is also awesomely talented.  10 fingers, a thousand pies and all deliciously baked!
We share a love of dance, performance, radio, burlesque, life, experiences, challenges and all things sense-ual and ours is the perfect collaboration.

The images I take are for the radio show's blog but I am able to share the images I take so stay zoned... but this was not why we were here tonight.  We were just meeting up before [drum roll] the BIG EVENT...oooh mystery...

(*relax.  That doesn't mean that Paris is full of homosexuals.  Once upon a time, "gay" meant happy plus eet eez ze way Frrrancophiles woould descrrribe Paree. Non?

**Some of my 'from Paris' friends don't understand the fascination! And they are artists, designers, photographers, antique dealers.)

Friends With Benefits

Ahhh...friends...somnetimes I don't quite know what I've done to deserve them but oh mannn... I must have done something right.  Not only are my friends wonderful, witty, funny, smart, brilliant, sassy, fiesty, sexy, beautiful, caring, compassionate, generous, eclectic, quirky, varied, crazy, life bon vivants... they also like sending me gifts.

As if their presence, personalities and friendship weren't beneficial enough.

My darling Sarah told me she was sending me a small parcel.  When I had to hire a forklift to help me carry the parcel home... I realised our definitions of small differ... J
...And then... this 'small' parcel?  It was kinda like this... !!!!!!!

By the way... if you ever meet her on the street, DON'T compliment what Sarah is wearing, no matter how gorgeous it is and how much saliva is pooling in your mouth.  Because she'll give it to you.  I made the 'mistake' of complimenting those divinnneeeee coral wedges and well, what do you know?  Lucky it wasn't her dress...

You will be seeing those [sigh...faint] pink chequered shoes very very soon and that sapphire skirt... oh.MY.Goddddddd.  Those lime espadrille wedges!!  aaarggghhhh!!! LOVVVE!!  Sigh. Sarah... love.

...and...just before Easter I received these WONDERful things from a most wonderful [non blogging, living too far away from me and dammit i miss her] friend.  My Wonder Woman fantasy obsession... love is well known but dammit seems I'm not the only one.  That lipgloss is by M.A.C. and is sold out in Australia!  All the WW products are!
...Even though the Aus dollar is stronger, the WW products cost 3 times more than in the US. Robbers.  Even though I do use M.A.C. lipsticks I still balk at the ridiculous prices.

Thank you my darlings!!!

5 Day Weekend

Wow we had a looooong weekend.  Easter and ANZAC Day.
...a bit ready for the week.  TGI...WTF??  Thank God it's Wed Thurs Fri!

Easter is traditionally time for the weather to say "hmm, looks like people will want to enjoy the Great Outdoors...what can I do?  Oh yeah.  I'll rain all weekend."  Sigh.
Regardless, staying indoors drives us [old ones. the kids are happy to stay in bed watching movies all day] batty so we need to be out and about.  Also had an intense, energy filled Flamenco class and it was oh so wonderful to be there.

Hope you all had a good weekend.  What did you do?

Also... I haven't done 'location' shoots for ages!  My tripod is already set up in my 'studio' (aka spare room)so it's just much easier to do my 'white wall' shots at home.
Tell me... are my 'white wall' images getting boring?  The thing with 'white wall' shots is that...that's it, it's just you.  You can't rely on 'props'.  It's just you and the dream machine, creating a story... or something like that.

Happy Easter!

However you celebrate/commemorate/view/venerate it... hope you have a lovely weekend and a Happy Easter!

...our house will be visited by dentist's best friend, the Easter Bunny... alas, no egg hunts anymore because my children no longer believe in the Easter Bunny.  Well... they are adults... funny though... they still believe in copious amounts of chocolate...

Also... I often say I wish there was a Blogbook like Facebook... just one big blogfeed that you can interact with right then and there.  That if you don't have time to leave a comment on the post you can actually 'Like' the post and let the blogger know that you appreciated the post.  Still with me?
Now I may not have completely though this through because I'm sick and blurgh (technical term) so my mind is 'flu-brained...but... I've started something and I would like to see how this works.

I would absolutely appreciate if you could go ahead and 'Like' the Style Blogbook page on facebook and upload your latest post... and spread the love... tell other bloggers... lets get another social network happening... please note, this is NOT my page... it's OUR page.

And if you're Australian... I would love it if you would also join the Australian Style Bloggers facebook page.  Let's get it started.  Thank you!

Ageing disGRACEfully.

I met the most amazing woman on Monday and we had a most wonderful conversation about getting older, we were so excited to share our thoughts and how similarexact they are!  Turns out she is a motivational guru and Penelope Whiteley has made it her life's mission to teach other women how to 'Age Disgracefully... Now'.  What a woman!

THEN... tonight... I saw the most ahhhmazing Grace... Went with my soul brothers and we were all just blown away by Hurricane Grace Jones!  What a performance!  What a woman!  What a voice! What a body!  WHAT an incredible presence!  And attitude.  And manner and mind.  In her sixties and ageing as disGRACEFully as possible!  With dignity and pleasure.

Ladies and Gentleman... this is how we roll.  Ageing disgracefully means never having to say sorry for being 100% YOU 'til the day you die!  It means refusing to 'settle down'.  Dust settles.  I prefer rising up. I have no time for days gone by.  Those of us who know how to age disgracefully don't waste our time looking back.  We live with our best foot forward.  In thigh high boots or hot red shoes*...

What does ageing disgracefully mean to you?

This (above) is what I wore to see Grace and this (below) is what I wore to work...had to do a quick change inbetween but a leopard doesn't change her spots... J ... and as you can see I am still flaunting my skin. Roar.

Meet Mulika.  Many of you may already know her.  This feeeyurce Woman awarded me the 'Stylish Blogger Award' and I am just chuffed, chuffed I tell ya.
As I have said before, not only is award-tagging a great way to spread the word about other blogs, it's really wonderful and humbling to be acknowledged by your peers, particularly those that you respect and greatly admire.*

I have recently discovered Mulika, she left a most wonderful comment on a recent post and intrigued, I followed her back to her 'Capacious Bottega' full of life.  And now I'm a fan for life.  I love her attitude, her brilliant mind, her style, her style of writing, her grrr body and beautiful, regal face and her awesome shoe collection!!  Woman has my kind of ishoes... Sarah and Helga Pt Too Soon...

So... we (Sarah, Helga et moi) met up again to spend the day wandering through Rozelle Markets (my favourite Sydney Markets!) and the many op-shops and vintage stores in Rozelle, with more sushi and edamame for lunch and a whole lotta of blogsistalovin' going on.

Us!  All unintentionally coordinated again!  We're just so connected.
We accosted asked a nice passerby man to take pics of us.  Just before we said bye... L
We parted ways too soon.

Sarah and Helga

...and me!
Oh gosh, where do I begin?  How do I begin to tell you how wonderful it is to have met can't-describe-beyond-words Sarah and vibrant, vivacious Helga???  I adore them!
Sarah is my wicked wit blogidol and Helga is just a fiery ball of kooky fun!

We started off our night at the opulent Absinthe Salon and ended it at Sydney's craziest karaoke bar, with some jazz accompanied sushi in the middle... eclectic, crazy, fabulously glamourous and fun... so, just perfect* for us!
*Sarah my love... hope that doesn't come across as  "...oh silly me, it's caught in my long lovely eyelashes..."!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  J

I was actually rather nervous!  So much so I had a wardrobe crisis!
I rarely have wardrobe crises! That link was the last time I had a wardobe crisis!
Could not find anything to wear, although I had pre planned a few outfit choices but didn't feel like wearing any of them on the day.
So I 'settled' for this... and... as you will see after the jump... it was totally meant to be...
